OmniDock is a functional utility designed for the aggregation and systematic review of files stored across disparate internal directories. It serves as a unified docking point for specific data formats, providing a single, consolidated interface for the manual management and auditing of your device’s information.
Data Consolidation Parameters
Static Media Aggregation
OmniDock identifies image files residing in any accessible storage path. By consolidating these items into a single viewing module, it allows for the methodical review of visual data without the need to navigate through individual directory structures.
Motion Data Compilation
The application retrieves video files based on their technical format headers. These motion-based data sets are compiled into a centralized list, facilitating a factual inventory of all video content stored on the device.
Acoustic Asset Retrieval
Locate and catalog audio files, including music, voice recordings, and system alerts. OmniDock organizes these acoustic assets into a dedicated category, ensuring that all sound-based data is accessible for manual sorting.
Archive Package Indexing
Specifically target and identify ZIP files and other compressed data packages. This indexing feature provides visibility into archived data that may be stored outside of standard media-specific folders.
Requirement for MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE Permission
To perform its core functions as a comprehensive file management utility, OmniDock requires the MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE (All Files Access) permission.
Technical Justification:
Access to Non-Media Directories: Standard API-level permissions are restricted to shared media collections (e.g., the "Gallery" or "Music" folders). OmniDock is designed to identify files—specifically ZIP archives and media—that are stored in application-specific folders, download directories, or nested sub-paths that are excluded from standard media scans.
Integrity of the Data Audit: For the "Archive Package Indexing" feature to be accurate, the application must have the authority to scan the entire file system. Without this permission, OmniDock would be unable to provide a factual and complete inventory of the device's storage status, as significant portions of the data would remain invisible to the utility.
Operational Protocol
OmniDock operates as a passive consolidation and reporting tool. It does not perform automated background modifications, file relocations, or deletions. Following the data scan, the application provides an organized inventory of its findings. All management actions are manual commands initiated by the user, ensuring total transparency and human-led control over the file system.
