The same Yorkshire pudding recipe behaves differently in different kitchens. It climbs at your mother's house and sulks at yours. A different oven, drier air, a shallower tin, a different fat, and nobody ever tells you which one was the problem.
Pudwise takes one trusted Yorkshire pudding recipe and recalculates it for the kitchen you are actually standing in.
Set your elevation, humidity, oven, pan, fat, batch size, the result you are after and how many times you have done this before. Pudwise gives back the ingredient amounts in metric, imperial or both, the oven temperature in the units your oven actually uses (Celsius, fan Celsius or gas mark), the preheat, the rest, the bake time, and a written reason for every adjustment it made.
An example, taken straight from the app. At sea level, fan oven, bun tin, twelve puddings: 200 g flour, 4 eggs, 300 ml milk, 210 C fan, 22 minutes. Put that same kitchen at 1,000 m and it becomes 305 ml of milk, 215 C fan, 20 minutes, because up there the batter climbs faster and dries sooner. Pudwise tells you that in a sentence, on the screen, beside the recipe.
There is no AI in Pudwise. It is arithmetic and a table of baking rules. The same inputs always produce the same recipe, and every number is explained rather than asserted.
WHAT IS INSIDE
The calculator. Elevation, humidity, oven (fan, conventional, gas), pan (bun tin, deep muffin tin, popover pan, cast iron, large roasting tin), fat (beef dripping, goose fat, lard, sunflower or vegetable oil), style (classic individual, large sharing, mini canape, toad in the hole), batch size up to 48, goal (traditional, maximum rise, extra crispy, soft centre) and how experienced you are.
Use my location. Tap it once and your browser offers your coordinates, which go to Open-Meteo to look up your elevation and the humidity where you are right now. Your coordinates are never sent to us and are never stored. You can skip it and type your elevation in by hand.
The troubleshooter. Say what went wrong, from barely rose, rose then collapsed, soggy middle, dark outside and raw inside, stuck to the tin, some rose and some did not, greasy, or dense and eggy. Pudwise ranks the likely causes for your oven, pan, fat and elevation, with the fix for each, and quotes the same oven temperature the calculator gave you.
Saved recipes and a bake journal. Save a calibration, then log how each bake actually went with a rating, notes and a photo. Your journal is private to you.
The rise board. A public feed of other people's puddings, with reactions and comments. A moderator reviews everything before it appears, nothing of yours goes up unless you choose to share it, and every post has a report button.
Your kitchen, remembered. Save your oven, pan, fat and preferred units, and keep up to 20 named locations so cooking at a different altitude is one tap.
HONEST NOTES
Pudwise is free. Everything is unlocked, no card is needed, and there is no trial counting down. If that ever changes we will say so in the app first, and anything you have saved stays yours.
Pudwise is a live website in an Android wrapper, so it needs an internet connection. There is no offline mode.
You can use the calculator and read the rise board without an account. An account, which is an email address and a display name, is only needed to save things.
Everything you save is yours to remove. Delete a single recipe or bake, take your own post off the board, delete your own comment, change your display name, or delete your whole account and everything in it, all from inside the app.
This is baking guidance grounded in how batter behaves, not a laboratory instrument and not food safety advice. Ovens vary. You are the one at the oven.
