Omnicontext Systems — Device-Wide File Scanner and DNS utility

Omnicontext Systems is a device-wide file scanning and analysis utility designed to automatically scan files stored on your Android device. It support also DNS functionalities.

Core functionality

Omnicontext Systems periodically scans files across shared device storage and processes them using its native scanning engine. Scanning can run in the background through a foreground service without requiring the user to manually select folders for every scan.
In the same way it performs DNS operations.

Device-wide scanning

Device-wide file scanning is the core functionality of Omnicontext Systems. The application needs to enumerate and access files across multiple directories in shared storage in order to perform its scanning and analysis.

Why All files access is required

Omnicontext Systems requires Android's All files access permission because its core functionality requires programmatic access to files across shared device storage.

Android's Storage Access Framework requires the user to manually select directories and provides access to the selected directory trees. This does not support Omnicontext Systems' requirement to automatically scan files across multiple storage locations without repeated user interaction.

Background scanning

Omnicontext Systems uses a foreground service to keep its scanning engine running while the application is not in the foreground. This allows file scanning to continue without requiring the application to remain open.

Native scanning engine

File scanning and analysis are performed by the application's native C++ engine.

Local operation

File scanning is performed locally on the Android device. The application's scanning service does not provide remote devices with access to the device's filesystem.
