About this app

1B Weather is a clean, honest weather forecast for your phone, foldable and tablet. No ads, no account and no tracking, and it works without your location. Open it and you see the weather right now, what the day will bring in one sentence, and when the data was last updated.

THE DAY IN ONE SENTENCE
• "Rain from 5 PM, take an umbrella": a short summary of the day at the top
• Now: temperature, feels like, conditions and a sky drawn from the real weather, with the sun on its real arc
• Next 12 hours of rain at a glance; in the Nordic countries, rain every 5 minutes for the next 90 minutes
• 48 hours with temperature, rain and wind on one ribbon
• Wind and gusts, humidity, pressure, UV index, dew point and cloud cover
• Sunrise, sunset and hours of daylight, calculated on your phone

10 DAYS, WITH HONEST CONFIDENCE
• High and low, rain in mm and chance, wind and a detail card for each day
• Every day is marked high, medium or low confidence, from the spread of the forecast or how far ahead it is. Never a made-up percentage
• You always see when the forecast was updated and where it comes from

WIDGETS THAT DON'T GO STALE
• Five widgets: Now (2×1), Today (4×1), Hours (4×2), Days (4×2) and Mini (1×1)
• A city for each widget, background transparency and light, dark or system theme
• They refresh on their own about every hour, when you unlock the phone and when the connection comes back
• They always draw from the last forecast saved on the phone, and if it is more than 3 hours old they show its time instead of pretending it is new

YOUR PLACES
• Search for any city in 21 languages, save up to 20 and reorder them
• "Use my approximate location" is optional and only asked for when you tap it. Never precise location, never in the background
• Local time shown next to each place

MORNING SUMMARY
• Optional daily notification at the time you choose, with the day's summary for your first place

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No ads, no analytics, no crash reporters and no third-party SDKs that use the network
• The app only talks to our own forecast server. Coordinates leave the phone rounded to a cell of about 2 km, so the server never sees where you are exactly, and it keeps no records per user
• No account and nothing to sign in to

PHONE, FOLDABLE AND TABLET
• Unfolded or on a tablet: your places on one side and the forecast on the other
• Light and dark theme, reduced motion, TalkBack with full sentences, large text
• Units: °C or °F; km/h, m/s, mph, knots or Beaufort; mm or inches; hPa or inHg; 12 or 24 hours

GOOD TO KNOW
• Weather data from MET Norway (Norwegian Meteorological Institute) and ECMWF, licensed under CC BY 4.0. Place names from GeoNames (CC BY 4.0)
• 1B Weather is not an official warning service: it does not show official severe weather alerts yet. For safety decisions, follow your national weather service
• An Internet connection is needed to update the forecast; without one, the app and the widgets show the last saved forecast with its time
• Android 8.0 or later
