A tribute to the Mission to Earthphase edition of the space chronograph, rebuilt as a standalone Wear OS watch face: a white dial with Snoopy and Woodstock on the lunar surface, the phase of the Earth at 10 o'clock, the phase of the Moon at 2 o'clock, a running seconds register at 6 and the outer tachymeter scale.
TWO PHASES, BOTH REAL, BOTH AUTOMATIC
Nothing to set. Both windows follow the actual age of the Moon tonight:
• At 2, the Moon as you see it from the Earth: two moons on a turning disc rise and set behind the cover, from new moon to full moon and back
• At 10, the Earth as an astronaut would see it from the Moon. It is always the opposite phase: when the Moon is new the Earth hangs full over the lunar horizon, and when the Moon is full the Earth goes dark, its night side sliding across it
TWO DIALS
• Earthphase: the night-blue edition, a deep blue tachymeter bezel and a blue minute track speckled with stars around the white centre
• Earthphase December: the all-white winter edition, white bezel and white track with blue printing
HEART RATE AND STEPS, INSIDE THE MOON WINDOW
Pick a Health style and the two white lobes of the moon cover, the ones that never move, carry your readings: your heart rate on the left, your step count on the right, printed in the blue of the dial. The Moon keeps turning in its windows between them. Steps are shortened past a thousand, so 8432 shows as 8k, and with no fresh heart rate reading the face shows a dash, not a zero.
CLASSIC OR DIAL
Every style comes in two views:
• Classic: the whole watch, with the outer TACHYMETRE scale
• Dial: a bezel-free view, zoomed so the printed dial runs right to the edge of the screen
Eight styles in one list: one tap sets the edition, phases or health, and the view.
THE REGISTER IS ALIVE
At 6, on the printed 60 scale: the running seconds, sweeping in step with the central seconds hand.
ALWAYS-ON DISPLAY THAT STILL LOOKS LIKE THE WATCH
In ambient mode the dial, the bezel and Snoopy stay on screen, dimmed right down, with the hour and minute hands lit on top. What goes out is only what moves: the seconds, the register hand, the moon disc, the Earth and the health readings. Measured at 12 per cent of full brightness against the 15 per cent Wear OS allows.
MORE
• Central hours and minutes with softly cast shadows, star-speckled like the dial, and no complications to fill in
• Standalone: no phone or companion app required
• Built with Watch Face Format for smooth performance and long battery life
NOTHING TO GRANT
You are not asked for any permission. Heart rate and steps are read by the Wear OS watch face runtime, not by this face, which carries no code of its own.
HOW TO CUSTOMIZE
Long-press your watch face and tap Edit, or open it from the picker, then pick one of the eight styles.
COMPATIBILITY
Wear OS 5 and later, round displays. No blend modes are used, so it is not limited to 5.1 and runs on more Wear OS 5 devices.
Note for dual-chip watches (OnePlus Watch 3 and similar): their Power Saver mode only runs the manufacturer's own built-in faces, so any third-party face works in Smart mode only, and the watch warns you when you apply it.
