A tribute to the classic black mission to the moon of the space chronograph collection, rebuilt as a standalone Wear OS watch face: a black dial under a black tachymeter bezel, three grey registers, and white hands and markers with a pale luminous fill.

THE CLASSIC ONE
This is the original mission to the moon, the black one, not the moonphase, the 1969 or the moonshine editions. Black dial, black bezel with its white TACHYMETRE scale, grey registers, white printing and white hands. Nothing on it shouts: it is the watch that looks the most like the one worn on the moon.

THREE REGISTERS
This is a chronograph-STYLE tribute, not a working stopwatch. There is nothing to start and nothing to stop:
• At 6, on the register with the printed 60 scale: the running seconds, sweeping in step with the central seconds hand rather than ticking a second behind it
• At 10, on the 60 scale: the minutes. At 2, on the 12 scale: the hours. Both turning with the time like the main hands

CLASSIC OR DIAL
The face comes in two views:
• Classic: the whole watch, with the outer TACHYMETRE bezel around the dial
• Dial: a bezel-free view, zoomed so the printed dial runs right to the edge of the screen

ALWAYS-ON DISPLAY THAT STILL LOOKS LIKE THE WATCH
Most watch faces go nearly black in ambient mode and leave you two floating hands. This one keeps the watch on screen: the dial, the tachymeter bezel, the markers, the printed minute track and all three registers stay, dimmed, with the white hour and minute hands lit on top. What goes out is only what runs, because that is what costs battery: the sweeping seconds and the three register hands. A black dial is cheap to leave on, so this one keeps more of itself than its lighter sisters and still stays within budget: measured at 12 per cent of full brightness against the 15 per cent Wear OS allows.

HOW TO CUSTOMIZE
Long-press your current watch face and tap Edit, or open it from the picker, then pick Classic or Dial.

COMPATIBILITY
Wear OS 5 and later, round displays. No blend modes are used, so it is not limited to 5.1 and runs on more Wear OS 5 devices.
Note for dual-chip watches (OnePlus Watch 3 and similar): their Power Saver mode only runs the manufacturer's own built-in faces, so any third-party face works in Smart mode only, and the watch warns you when you apply it.
