All seafarers of vessels will be covered under the comprehensive medical insurance group policy taken on their behalf by NUSTS to take care of medical expenses that may be borne by the seafarers. Those who are eligible for the medical scheme are the seafarers their spouse and their unmarried children (from 01 to 21 years of age), unmarried seafarers and their parents are eligible under this scheme.

•Life Insurance Rs 800,000
•Accident Death cover Rs 800,000
•Critical Illness Insurance Rs 250,000
•Surgical & Hospitalization Insurance Rs 400,000
And management by Eight trustees representing the National Union of Seafarers Sri Lanka (NUSS), International Transport workers Federation (ITF), International Maritime Employers committee (IMEC) & Sri Lanka ship management / crew supplying companies.
