Penbox is a football quiz for people who want to actually know the game, not just
follow it. Six hundred questions across ten categories cover the parts of football
that rarely get explained properly: the offside law, refereeing signals, set-piece
routines, the physics that bends a free kick, the slang, and the history before
1928. Every question comes with a short explanation, so a wrong answer teaches you
something instead of just costing you a point.
Open the app and you get five questions for the day, drawn from the whole
question bank and identical for everyone playing that day. Beyond the daily quiz
you can drill any category on its own, replay only the questions you got wrong,
or step up to a penalty shootout against the Keeper of the Day. Answer under the
clock, build a combo multiplier for consecutive correct answers, and watch your
mastery of each category climb from a white belt to a black belt.
KEY FEATURES
✓ 600 questions across 10 categories — rules, tactics, refereeing signals,
football slang, physics, pre-1928 history, equipment, positions, set pieces
and football around the world
✓ A daily quiz of five questions, the same for every player, with a streak that
builds toward 3, 7, 14, 30, 60 and 100-day milestones
✓ Belt mastery per category — white, yellow, green, blue and black — earned only
from first-try correct answers, so the ladder means something
✓ Penalty shootout mode against four keeper styles, from Quick's eight-second
clock to Tricky, who shuffles the answers while you are reading them
✓ Retry only the questions you missed, and practise the ten you get wrong most
✓ Per-category analytics: accuracy by subtopic, a difficulty curve, question
coverage and a trend line across your recent sessions
✓ A 200-entry codex explaining the laws and the ideas behind them, linked to the
questions that test them
✓ A profile with a 30-day activity heatmap, your strongest and weakest
categories, full session history and a breakdown of every question you answered
HOW IT WORKS
1. Play the five-question daily quiz, or pick a category and start a set.
2. Answer under the clock — 15, 30 or 60 seconds, or turn the timer off entirely.
3. Read the explanation on anything you missed, then retry just those questions.
4. First-try correct answers raise your belt and fill in your mastery for that
category.
5. Check your profile to see which subtopics are letting you down, and drill them.
WHY PENBOX
Most football quizzes test whether you remember a scoreline. Penbox tests whether
you understand the game — why the advantage was played, what the assistant's flag
position meant, why that shot swerved. Mastery is measured only on first
attempts, so you cannot grind a belt by repeating the same question. The whole
app is built around showing you exactly where your understanding is thin and
giving you a fast way to fix it.
PRIVACY
Penbox works entirely offline. There is no account, no sign-in, no tracking and
no ads. Your quiz history, mastery and streaks are stored only on your device,
and erasing them is a single option in Settings.
Learn the laws, earn the belt, and settle the next touchline argument for good.
