Why turn off the microphone:

I tried to mute permanently and locked the app. I noticed however that WhatsApp was capable to Unmute before recording an audio message. I visibly saw the mute switch turned off by it. Then I remembered that I did not give MuteMic itself microphone permission, but I noticed eventually that giving it that permission will not improve anything. I therefore lower my score even more. It is only useful as a more easily reachable mute switch when you need it.

I installed it when Samsung's "adapt sound" hearing test refused to start because of a noisy environment that was really just hiss from the mic on the cheap earphones I was trying to optimize. This app did the trick, silencing the hiss, allowing me to take the hearing test and get an optimized EQ for each ear. (If you have a Samsung phone I recommend doing this to make a profile for every pair of phones or buds you have!) I uninstalled it afterwards, but only because that was all I needed it for

Straight forward app. open it up, select mute, close app. microphone is now muted. Could be more convenient by adding a widget at some point to just tap on the home tile.
