What is the Out In Service app?

The Out In Service app is a special tool designed to help you find partners for field service. It lets you know who else in your congregation needs a service partner, as well as others in nearby halls who are needing service partners. The app can help you:

- Make the best use of your time (Ephesians 5:15,16)
- Widen out in your association (1 Peter 2:17)
- Fully accomplish your ministry (2 Timothy 4:5)

Why was Out In Service created?

Out In Service was created out of necessity by a regular pioneer brother and his 12-year-old future pioneer son. Here’s an example of why Out In Service was created:

Imagine it’s a beautiful Saturday around noon and everyone else in your car group appears to be finished for the day. You would like to continue in your ministry, but you don't want to work alone and you don’t know who else is staying out. How can yo find someone else who wants to stay out?

You make a few calls but no one you call is staying out. Should you call it a day and go in? If you have the Out In Service app on your device you may have some great options.

The Out In Service app can tell you which friends in your area have marked themselves as "Available" for service and for how long they are available. The app then facilitates communication and helps you make plans with them.

How is the Out In Service app supported?

The Out In Service app runs completely on voluntary donations. All development, maintenance and improvement costs for this app come out of pocket. We want to keep this app available for free for everyone for as long as the preaching work continues to exist. Because it is related to pure worship it could never contain ads.

Will the Out In Service app get more features?

The Out In Service app is a useful tool as it is, but further enhancements are planned. For example, we would like the app to be helpful for forming car groups and for scheduling future service plans.

We also welcome new feature suggestions. There is a ‘Contact Us’ page where you can get your thoughts and ideas through to us. Also, if you experience any problems using the app please use the ‘Contact Us’ page to let us know.

How do I use the Out In Service app?

The first step in using the Out In Service app is to download it to your device. After downloading it you can ask the person who told you about it to show you how to use it, or you can use the videos on our ‘How To’ page on this website at:

Important Note:

Above all brothers and sisters, please be safe when using the app. There is currently no way to prevent a non-witness from downloading the app and creating an account. Because of this, we encourage you to please always use caution when making service plans, especially with those whom you have never worked. It would be wise to always meet at the kingdom hall along with others when joining with others for field service.

Is Out In Service an “official” JW app?

No. The Out In Service app is not sponsored by, nor was it created in conjunction with the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Pennsylvania or any of its affiliated organizations. It is just a tool created by a publisher who saw an opportunity to help further field service arrangements for himself and others.
