About this app

A coin collection drifts apart easily. Some of it in a spreadsheet, some photographed on your phone, some only in your head. Then comes the question with no quick answer: what do I actually own, and what is it worth today?

OutOfDark is a personal catalog for your coin collection. Photograph the obverse and reverse, or paste an auction link. The app suggests the identification, pre-fills the details and creates an editable record. You review the result and get back to collecting.

WHAT THE APP DOES

- Photograph the obverse and reverse; recognition fills in country, year, metal, mint and denomination.
- Paste a link from an auction site and the entry is created, photos and listing price included.
- Upload an existing spreadsheet and create the whole collection at once.
- Organize the collection into categories, filter, search, edit several coins at once.
- Keep a value with every coin and watch how the collection develops over time.
- For bullion coins you can switch on value recalculation from the metal price.
- Keep your own notes, storage location and purchase records with each coin.
- Export the collection to a spreadsheet, with or without the financial columns.
- Protect the account with two-factor sign-in; data is backed up daily, encrypted.
- Set up Legacy and the collection summary is handed to someone close to you if the worst happens.
- Sell a coin on the marketplace, or offer it directly to other collectors.
- Ask the built-in assistant anything about numismatics.

WHO IT IS FOR

For a collector who takes the collection seriously but does not want to spend ten minutes typing in details for every coin. No complicated setup. Open the app with a coin in hand and moments later you have an editable record in the catalog.

We built the app because we needed a catalog like this ourselves and none of the existing ones fitted. You will also find us written as Out of Dark.

What’s new

Notifications on your phone

The app lets you know when the watchdog finds a coin from your wishlist, an auction you follow is starting soon, or somebody asks about your listing. Tapping takes you straight to what it is about.

The app asks for permission the first time it actually needs it. Choose which kinds reach your phone and which your inbox in Settings → Notifications.
