PaddleReady is the free conditions companion for kayakers, canoeists, and stand-up paddleboarders.
Open the app and you see one thing first: a Green, Yellow, or Red Condition Badge telling you whether today looks like a good day to paddle. Behind it — live wind, tide, weather, UV, water quality, and active NOAA marine advisories, all pulled from official public data sources. Verify with NOAA and the U.S. Coast Guard before every trip.
WHAT YOU GET, FREE (supported by non-personalized ads):
• Green / Yellow / Red condition score for your current location
• 3-day wind, weather, and condition forecast
• Live tide predictions from NOAA
• NOAA marine and weather advisories
• Sunrise, sunset, golden hour, and daylight remaining
• Real-time water quality from USGS (where available)
• Community-submitted launch points with satellite views, directions, and amenities
• Community-reported hazards (dams, strainers, dangerous currents) — user-submitted, not independently verified
• U.S. Coast Guard regulations and state-by-state rules, looked up by your current GPS
PADDLEREADY PRO ADDS (annual plan starts with a 7-day free trial):
• Conditions for any area — check forecasts, tides, and launch points for any city or zip code, not just where you are right now
• Offline mode — the conditions, forecast, tides, and alerts you last loaded stay readable without cell coverage. It is a cache of what you already loaded, not offline maps or downloadable launch points.
• 7-day extended forecast (the free version shows 3 days)
• Ad-free experience — the ads that support the free version disappear completely
• Support development — your subscription funds continued work on the app
PaddleReady Pro is $3.99/month or $29.99/year. The annual plan is the best value (save ~37% vs. monthly) and includes a 7-day free trial.
DATA SOURCES (ALL FREE, ALL PUBLIC):
Open-Meteo · NOAA Tides and Currents · NOAA National Weather Service · USGS Water Services · Sunrise-Sunset.org · OpenStreetMap · Apple Maps / Google Maps
PRIVACY-FIRST:
• No registration required to use core features
• Conditions lookups send your GPS coordinates straight from your device to the public data APIs — we never log, store, or retain them, and no history of where you check conditions is ever created
• Nearby-launch searches are the one exception: on a cache miss our server stores your coordinates rounded to a ~0.7-mile grid cell, with the search radius, for up to 24 hours, so repeat searches do not re-query OpenStreetMap — no account or device ID is attached
• Coordinates you deliberately attach to a launch point or hazard report are saved to our database, because that is what those features are for (detailed in the in-app Privacy Policy)
• A device ID for spam prevention on community content — stored with your account when you post, so it is declared to Apple and Google as linked to you
• Photos are automatically EXIF-stripped before upload (no GPS leaks)
• The free version shows a single non-personalized banner ad on the Home and Launch Points screens only — no behavioral profiling, no data sales (Pro removes ads entirely)
IMPORTANT — READ BEFORE USING:
PaddleReady is for informational and recreational reference only. It is NOT a navigation aid, NOT a substitute for U.S. Coast Guard guidance or NOAA marine forecasts, and NOT a safety system. Water activities are inherently dangerous and can result in serious injury, drowning, or death. Always verify conditions with official sources, wear a properly fitted PFD, and exercise personal judgment before paddling. Community-submitted hazards are unverified, and absence of a hazard marker does not mean an area is safe.
