About this app

RingCue makes your own phone ring on a schedule you set, so you always have a way to step out of a conversation - or a way to play a harmless joke on a friend.

Pick who is calling, choose when (ten seconds from now, five minutes, half an hour), and put your phone away. When the time is up it rings, buzzes and shows an incoming call, even if the screen has been off the whole time. Answer it, say what you need to say, and go.

EVERY CALL IS A SIMULATION
Nothing is dialled. Nobody is contacted. No carrier or telephony network is involved, and no audio goes anywhere. The ringtone, the caller and the call screen are drawn by the app on your own phone, and the in-call screen says so.

IT ARRIVES WHEN YOU ASKED IT TO
The countdown runs in a foreground service with a notification you can see and cancel, rather than an ordinary reminder that a sleeping phone is allowed to deliver late. Lock your phone, put it face down on the table, and the call still comes on time and takes over the lock screen. If Android is holding back the full-screen permission, RingCue still rings and posts a call notification you can answer, and it shows you where the switch is.

MAKE THE CALLER YOURS
- A name, a number and a photo from your gallery
- Six ringtones and four vibration patterns
- Delays from ten seconds to thirty minutes, or a custom number of minutes
- A short script your phone reads aloud after you answer, using its own text to speech (a synthetic voice, not a recording of a person)
- Calls that end themselves after 45 seconds, a minute or three, so a call never drags on
- A "Ring now" button when you would rather not wait

TWO WAYS TO USE IT
Rescue: when the call ends, your phone goes quietly back to where it was. Nothing pops up in front of the person you just left.
Prank: the summary opens afterwards with a card you can show or share.

IT EXPLAINS ITSELF
A short guide up front answers the question people actually have - will it come if my screen is off - and it is honest about the limits, including that a scheduled call does not survive a restart.

QUIET BY DESIGN
- No account and no sign-up
- No access to your contacts, your call log, your microphone or your location
- Your callers and their photos stay on this phone; there is no server of ours to send them to

RESPONSIBLE USE
RingCue is for leaving somewhere gracefully and for jokes between people who will laugh about it. It is not a substitute for contacting emergency services, and it will not let you name a caller after the police or an emergency line.
Schedule a simulated incoming call and step away. No real calls are made.
