La Civilta Cattolica is the oldest of all the still active Italian magazines. E 'was founded in Naples and the first issue was printed on April 6th 1850. Its editors from the foundation are all Jesuits.
La Civilta Cattolica is open to all cultural sectors: from history to sociology, from economics to politics, from digital culture to literature, from science to the movies. from theology to philosophy. And 'attentive to the contemporary world as well as a reading of the great events of the past.
Since the editorial of the first issue of 1850 has so interpreted its "catholicity", "A Catholic Civilization would not be catholic, that is universal, if it could not be reconciled with any form of public affairs." And 'This then is the spirit of the magazine: to understand how to be Catholic today also means being open to the world, cultures and at every public dimension. La Civilta Cattolica unchanged retains its particular relationship of harmony with the Holy See, which is part of its identity.
The magazine is published on the first and third Saturday of the month (24 books a year for a total of 2,500 pages).
