About this app

RRate provides an efficient and accurate way to measure respiratory rate. Simply tap the screen in sync with the patient’s breathing and the app will calculate a rate using the most recent consistent tap intervals. Once a consistent rate is established, you can confirm the result by comparing the patient’s breathing to a visual breathing animation of the measured rate.

RRate integrates seamlessly with your healthcare workflow using the following features:

- Data export to REDCap
- Local file export
- Launches from external healthcare applications, returning data that complies with SMART on FHIR protocol

Learn how to set up these integrations by visiting our GitHub (https://github.com/part-cw/rrate/wiki).

Compared to traditional methods, RRate can calculate a respiratory rate in a fraction of the normal time while maintaining clinical accuracy. Research at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute has proven RRate to be efficient and repeatable across a wide range of respiratory rates.
