HOW THE EXAM WORKS
Airframe and powerplant certification starts with three FAA knowledge tests: General (60 items), Airframe (100), and Powerplant (100), each 2 hours with 70% to pass. Get an FAA Tracking Number through IACRA, bring a signed authorization, and schedule each test with PSI, which sets the fee. Pass all required tests within 24 months; after a failure, retest in 30 days, or sooner with a signed statement of additional instruction.
