Backgammon Dojo is for players who want to get better, not just play another game.
Play full games against an AI that runs on your phone, with the doubling cube in every game. When the game ends you see the result, how much of it came from the dice and how much from your decisions, and a performance rating (PR) for how well you played. Dice are drawn when rolled; the AI never sees them.
One tap opens the review. Every decision that cost you is listed, biggest first, with the reason in plain words, for example:
"Your play hits nothing; the best play hits 1."
Then train the parts you get wrong. Five levels, from your first game to cube decisions:
• Pip count: count both sides, checked exactly
• Shots: how many of the 36 rolls hit your blot
• Opening moves, checked against published rollouts
• Best move in contact and race positions
• Bear-off: the play that needs the fewest rolls on average
• Double or not, take or pass
• Your mistakes: positions you got wrong in your own games come back until you get each one right twice
New to backgammon? Learn it in a guided first game. Short cards explain each rule the moment it comes up, and an illegal move snaps back with the rule named. Nothing is locked, so you can skip straight to a normal game.
Two AI levels: Friendly, which makes small mistakes on purpose, and Strong.
Works offline. No account needed.
What it does not do yet: no match play and no online opponents. The PR comes from this app's own engine, so it is not on the same scale as other analysis programs.
