Remember when dungeons were drawn on graph paper, every corridor was a mystery, and the only light was the torch in your hand?
Lanternfall is a love letter to the legendary first-person dungeon crawlers of the 1980s. Lead a party of four heroes, step by step and square by square, into the dark beneath the lantern town of Emberwick. You'll find chunky pixel walls, flickering torchlight, synth-era sound effects and monsters that loom out of the shadows.
The Lantern of Emberwick is dying. Something in the Vaults is feeding on its light. Go down and find out what.
— STEEL, SORCERY AND THUNDER
Turn-based party combat that hits hard. Lightning arcs across the screen, critical hits shake the dungeon, fireballs bloom, and beaten foes crumble into pixels. Plan every round: who shields, who heals, who unleashes the big spell.
— BUILD YOUR COMPANY
Recruit from four classes at the Delvers' Guild:
• Warden: the iron wall that draws every blow
• Blade: swift strikes, poison edges, a nose for traps
• Arcanist: fire, frost and lightning, plus world-bending utility
• Chaplain: healing light, holy smites and second chances
Mix and match a party of four, level them up and kit them out with axes, staves, enchanted charms and plate.
— MAGIC BEYOND THE BATTLE
Your heroes are useful between fights too. Flood a hall with Lumen to reveal hidden walls and traps. Blink straight through stone. Break ancient rune seals, pick locks, disarm pressure plates, heave aside rubble and make camp to recover. Some routes only open to a well-rounded party.
— CHART EVERY SQUARE
A classic grid-based crawl with a built-in automap. Hunt for keys, treasure chests, healing springs, secret doors and the stairs down, then face the guardian that waits at the bottom of every vault.
— RETURN TO EMBERWICK
Rest at the Sooty Bed, haggle at the Market, recruit new delvers and honor your fallen at the Shrine of Wicks. Then grab your lantern and go back down.
— PURE OLD-SCHOOL FEEL
• First-person, step-and-turn movement in true 80s style
• Hand-built vaults packed with secrets and traps
• Retro pixel art, dithered torchlight and crunchy sound
• Plays great one-handed in portrait
• No account, no energy timers, no pay-to-win
Lanternfall is free to play. Occasional ads appear only at natural breaks (back in town or between floors), never during combat or exploration. A single one-time "Remove Ads" purchase turns them off forever.
