This app was not prepared by an official religious institution; it is educational.
Tecvid is an educational app for people who want to learn the rules of Qur'an recitation step by step. It teaches and cites its sources; it does not assess your recitation.
LESSONS WITH SOURCES
All 18 tajweed rules have a plain description and the source it is based on. Lesson texts are in Turkish. The institution, the title of the text, the access date and the link are visible on the lesson page, so you can read the source yourself. The rule descriptions are based on entries of the Turkish Religious Foundation Encyclopaedia of Islam (TDV İslâm Ansiklopedisi), and every lesson links to the relevant entry. The app is not affiliated with that institution and is neither prepared nor endorsed by it; the texts are compiled with attribution only.
LETTER BY LETTER IN REAL VERSES
Every rule is shown inside the Qur'anic text itself, with the letters covered by the rule coloured. The colouring comes from an openly licensed (CC BY 4.0) letter-indexed annotation data set, not from the app's own guesswork. Colours are a visual aid.
FIND THE RULE IN THE VERSE
In practice you tap the letters where the rule occurs. Correct, missed and extra marks are shown directly from the annotation data. No score, no ranking.
MEMORISATION TRACKING
Pick a surah and verse range to create a list. Cards return on a spaced repetition schedule (SM-2). In hidden verse mode the verse stays covered; you recite it to yourself, reveal it and decide whether you knew it. That judgement is entirely yours.
THE APP DOES NOT JUDGE
The app does not listen to, record or grade your recitation. It never asks for microphone access; there is no speech recognition and no automatic mistake detection. Nothing is marked as "verified" — the learning and the decision stay with you.
ACCESSIBILITY
Arabic text size and line height are adjustable. A colour-blind friendly palette is available. Light and dark themes are supported.
PRIVACY
No account, no server, no ads. Your progress and lists stay on your device. The app goes online only for subscription handling; when you tap "Open source" or "Privacy policy", the address opens in your device's browser.
