My Social Reading is the app designed for the school world to allow students and teachers to read a text together, comment on it, interact and exchange views through short text messages, following the dynamics typical of social networks - all within a safe and appropriately structured educational ecosystem.

The pleasure of reading
Students, in an environment where they feel at ease, discover the pleasure of reading. In this sense, the app enables deep, intimate reading that is never distracting.

Knowledge and skills
The app allows for the practice of up-to-date digital teaching methods that trigger effective learning mechanisms, enabling students to acquire specific language-related knowledge and beyond, as well as to develop strategic cross-cutting competencies, such as digital and citizenship skills. The ability to add text comments leads students to work not only on reading skills but also on writing and summarising.

Informal, experiential and collaborative learning
The informal methodology underpinning social reading pedagogy makes learning natural and spontaneous, transforming school activity into a genuine experience to be lived anytime and anywhere, beyond the classroom walls and the school bell. The opportunity to interact activates collaborative learning dynamics through which, entirely spontaneously, students find themselves exchanging opinions, comparing ideas, sharing stories, and learning together - each according to their own inclinations, learning style and communication preferences.

Augmented reading: reading and connecting
The ability to include not only text but also links and images in comments makes reading augmented: students can draw connections, deepen their understanding through web searches to share with other readers, pooling additional content and ideas.

An inclusive app
Thanks to integrated tools, each student can personalise their reading experience by choosing the font type, size, and background colour, and by activating automatic text-to-speech.


The application offers two working modes.
1. Social Reading Club paired with the adopted school textbook:
all students who use a textbook with an integrated Social Reading Club access the in-app reading rooms for the relevant school year. Access to the readings takes place directly through the QR codes printed on the book's pages within the Social Reading Club boxes. The reading experience thus brings together classes from across the country together with their teachers.

2. Private readings: within the app, the teacher has access to a library of ready-made reading projects that can be activated privately - that is, by creating reading groups and involving only the students they choose or one or more entire classes, with an independent calendar. Access to this feature is reserved for teachers who adopt the Sanoma school textbooks to which the project is linked.

During the year, the publisher may also make available institutional public reading pathways. In this case, cross-cutting readings bring together classes from across Italy whose teachers freely choose to take part in the initiative: through a shared calendar, all participants read and comment on the proposed texts during the same period.

Teaching suggestions and monitoring tools
The readings proposed within the application are enriched with suggestions for the teacher to use to animate interaction, effectively engage students, monitor progress and moderate conversations.
