Pencil Star is a star battle logic puzzle in pen, on squared notebook paper, with a rule of its own: the pencil numbers.
Put one star in every row, every column and every color. Stars never touch, not even at a corner.
The first eight puzzles are classic star battle. From No. 9 on, the pencil numbers join in. A circled square never holds a star, and its number says how many stars touch it, corners included. So a 0 means no square around it holds a star. It is a different kind of clue, and it gives you new ways in.
Tap a square once for a cross, again for a star, and drag to cross out a row of squares.
• 2,000 puzzles in 80 books of 25, from 5 × 5 to 10 × 10. Each has exactly one answer, and logic gets you there: you never have to guess.
• From book 21 on, themed books join the regular ones: Coffee Break, Big Boards, Look Ahead, Masters and more. Every 20 books are a step harder than the 20 before.
• A new puzzle every day, a calendar to catch up on the days you missed, and a streak for the days in a row.
• Hints that teach. Stuck? A hint shades the row, column, color or number that decides your next move and tells you why. If a mark is wrong, a hint takes it back.
• Plays offline, with no account.
• “show mistakes”, if you want them: a broken rule is hatched and a wrong number turns red.
• Notes: pencil a dot into a square while you think it over.
• Stats: books finished, hints taken, daily streaks, and your times for each book.
• Phones and tablets, upright or sideways, in 20 languages.
Free, and where the ads never go
• Never in the middle of a puzzle, unless you ask for a hint video. No banners.
• Never after a daily puzzle, never in the first book, and never on the puzzle that finishes a book.
• Never more than one every three puzzles.
Three hints a day are free. After that, a short video gives you one more, or three new ones come tomorrow.
One purchase, “remove ads”, ends the ads between puzzles and gives you every hint without a video. Pay once, keep it.
Your puzzles, times and streaks stay on your device. The game has no server to send them to. The ads come from Google AdMob, and where the law asks for consent, you are asked first.
