About this app

Unofficial application. It does not represent the Peruvian State, the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, or any other public entity. The texts are sourced from the Peruvian Legal Information System (SPIJ): https://spij.minjus.gob.pe

The "Peruvian Penal Code" app brings together the Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, and the Political Constitution of Peru in a single application. All content is contained within the app, allowing it to function without an internet connection.

Included texts:
• Penal Code (Legislative Decree No. 635), updated as of July 2, 2026, via Law No. 32684.
• Code of Criminal Procedure (Legislative Decree No. 957), current as of July 2026.
• 1993 Political Constitution of Peru, including the bicameral reform introduced by Law No. 31988.

In total, there are over 1,500 articles, organized into books, titles, and chapters, mirroring the structure of the original legal texts.

Search
You can navigate directly to a specific article by entering its number (e.g., 108-B, 186, 268) or search for keywords within the text—such as "femicide," "aggravated robbery," "fraud," "pretrial detention," "early termination of proceedings," or "habeas corpus." The search function is accent-insensitive and allows for filtering by specific code.

Reading
Navigate between articles by swiping. The app offers adjustable font size and typeface, a dark mode, and an "article of the day" feature. It also remembers the last article you read.

Favorites and Notes
Mark articles as favorites, add your own notes to any article, and review your reading history. Each article can be copied or shared.

Amendments
Every article indicates which legal provisions amended it and the date of those changes. Articles that have been repealed or declared unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court are clearly marked. Official Sources
The texts were taken from the following sources, where you can consult the official versions:
• Penal Code in the SPIJ: https://spij.minjus.gob.pe/spij-ext-web/#/detallenorma/H682692
• Code of Criminal Procedure in the SPIJ: https://spij.minjus.gob.pe/spij-ext-web/#/detallenorma/H682695

• Official Gazette *El Peruano* (published legal regulations): https://diariooficial.elperuano.pe

This app is provided for reference and study purposes only. For legal matters, always verify the text via the SPIJ or the Official Gazette *El Peruano*. Within the app, each code includes a direct link to its official version in the SPIJ.
