About this app

PGN Pocket is the tournament player's notebook: record the game as you play or photograph your scoresheet, and the app gives you the PGN, ready to review, analyze and keep.

RECORD AS YOU PLAY
Enter your moves during the game on a board that only accepts legal moves, so you cannot lose the game to a slip of the finger. Works fully offline, at the board, with no account needed.

TRANSCRIBE THE PAPER
Photograph a handwritten scoresheet and let the AI read it. The app checks every move against the position, flags the ones it is unsure about and lets you fix them one by one. You stay in control: nothing is accepted without you.

YOUR TOURNAMENTS, ORGANIZED
Tournaments, rounds and one-off games, with several profiles on the same phone (you, your children, your students). Import and export PGN, and share a single game or a whole tournament.

STUDY AFTERWARDS
Add variations with nested branches and comments on any move. Ask for an AI analysis of the game and listen to it read aloud, with the notation pronounced the way a player would say it.

OPENING EXPLORER
Your own repertoire, built from your own games: in every position you see what you have played, how many times and with what result, with White and with Black separately. Transpositions are grouped automatically.

LICHESS STUDIES
Bring your studies into the app and read them offline, with their variations, their comments and the arrows and circles their author drew. Connect your account to bring in private ones too, or upload one of your tournaments as a study.

PREPARE FOR YOUR OPPONENT
Keep a library of your rivals' games, imported from PGN, Lichess or Chess.com, filter them by color and period, and keep your notes and your previous games against them at hand.

BEFORE AND AFTER THE GAME
Your own checklist, with ideas ordered from the night before to the end of the game, and short audio routines to arrive focused and recover between rounds.

EXPORT ANYWHERE
Everything comes out as standard PGN, so it opens in ChessBase, Lichess, Chess.com or any other tool. Your games are yours.

WORKS WHERE YOU PLAY
Your games are stored on the phone and the app works offline, except transcription and analysis, which need internet. Automatic backup with your Google account.

AI FEATURES (PAID)
Scoresheet transcription and game analysis are the only paid
features; everything else is free.

• Monthly subscription: up to 60 AI readings per month.
• Yearly subscription: up to 60 per month and 250 per year.
• Pack of 10 credits: one-off purchase, never expires.

These are fair-use limits, well above what a tournament player
needs (around 80 readings a year). You can check them in the app
before subscribing and see your usage at any time.

What’s new

• When the lichess connection expires, the app now says so clearly and takes you to link it again, instead of claiming you had no account connected. The expired account is flagged in orange.
• Transcription no longer silently replaces a move it read clearly. If something does not add up, it stops earlier instead of carrying on with invented moves.
• When it cannot place the whole scoresheet, it now shows what it did read, row by row, so you can see where the problem is.
