About this game

Tacape is a deck-builder card game with roguelite elements for those who love a tactical challenge. Take part in a series of combats, build your strategy, upgrade your cards and face folkloric creatures along the way!

Be careful! Enemies can switch between positions and will be intent on hindering you in various ways during combat. You will have to manipulate the battlefield, understand the behavior of each enemy, and make smart moves to win every battle: there are countless strategies' opportunities!

Buy and upgrade your cards at the shop, get new abilities with the artifact, heal yourself at the campfire and fight bosses in a Brazilian folk universe!

STORY:
How far would you go to face your fears?
Follow the journey of Lorena, who, after having her little brother taken away by a mysterious creature must venture into the forest and face various folk figures.
In Tacape fear and courage go hand in hand, it's up to you to decide which is stronger.
Discover also the adventure of Lucas, the little brother of Lorena who will try everything to get out of the forest to get back to her big sister.

I absolutely love the unique theming of this one! The sound direction and overall aesthetic is great. However, it does still need polish. For me, the biggest annoyance is the tutorial pop-up. Every time I start a run, it tries teaching me how to play. I think the balancing is also off. I want to try to relax and try out some different cards/strategies, but the game's base difficulty is forcibly much higher than other deckbuilders; I either get lucky and get the right cards, or I die to boss 1.

Gameplay is excellent - you'll need a great deal of strategy and skill to wrap up a campaign. Story is more lacking - confusing, short and all too fast cutscenes, with not enough information to really understand why anything is happening. Perhaps I'd like them more if I was more familiar with the folklore this game is inspired by, but alas. Game is premium, with each character costing $1 after you finish their demo run. Subsequent runs unlock more challenging areas, and more cards for players.

Game has a lot of potential. Theming is cool and unique, card and item and event and room variety feels good. But the UI is pretty buggy. It's hard to pick the right card and easy to play the wrong one. I like that the game is in portrait view so I can play with one hand but that does make my hand of cards cramped. A flip through button would be nice. Also, I think I crashed after defeating the second boss/finishing the section area in Lorena's campaign because I got dumped back to the home.
