Feeling like talking to someone?
Why not have a little chat on Pikon?
Pikon is a voice chat app where you can choose a room from your timeline and enjoy conversations with up to four people. Rooms are available for up to 30 minutes after creation. You can easily talk about what happened today, your favorite things, or any topic that comes to mind.
When you're relaxing at home. When you've finished a task. When you're spending a night alone and just want to hear someone's voice.
You don't need a big reason or a special topic. Just look for a room that interests you, with the feeling of "Let's chat for a bit."
[Find a room and chat casually]
The starting point for conversation is the room listings on your timeline.
You can look at the room names and find topics that suit your mood. "I'd like to join this conversation," "I wonder what they're talking about." You can choose a room to join based on your interest.
The list shows the room name, the number of participants, and the remaining time. You can choose a chat based not only on the topic but also on the number of participants and the time allotted, making it perfect even for short conversations. To see the latest listings, pull down the list to refresh.
Once you find a chat you'd like to join, check the rules and enter the room. Start by saying "Hello" and begin a conversation with the other participants.
【Maximum 4 people. Small group conversations】
A maximum of 4 people, including the host who created the room, can participate in one room.
Start with familiar topics like what you ate today, a recent movie, or how you spend your weekends, and gradually expand the conversation.
Nodding in agreement, laughing, or adding a little bit of your own story – the nuances of your tone of voice and interjections are part of the fun of voice communication. Instead of writing and sending messages, you can express your thoughts in your own words.
You don't need to keep talking the whole time. Listen to others, and chime in when you feel like it. Enjoy small group chats while respecting each other's speaking time.
[A Perfect Detour of Up to 30 Minutes]
Rooms end 30 minutes after creation.
The time limit makes it perfect for a short break or a change of pace at the end of the day. It allows you to incorporate short conversations with a defined end into your daily routine.
The 30 minutes start from the moment the room is created. If you join midway, you can continue the conversation for the remaining time. Check the remaining time in the list and choose a room that fits your current schedule.
Participants can leave at their own pace. Rooms may end earlier than 30 minutes if the host leaves or ends the session. Enjoy the conversation in front of you within the allotted time. It's a place for casual use like that.
[Create a Room to Talk About What You Want]
Besides searching for interesting postings, you can also create your own room and invite participants.
Enter a room name using the "+" button on the screen, agree to the rules, and create the room. You can then enter your own room. Created rooms will appear in the list, and anyone who sees the posting can join.
Room names are limited to 10 characters. Try to express what you want to talk about in short words.
• "What did we have for dinner today?"
• "Let's talk about movies"
• "Casual chat before bed"
• "What are you doing on your day off?"
For example, even familiar topics like these are fine. Making it clear what the room is about makes it easier for participants to think of their first words.
There's no need to feel pressured to liven up the atmosphere. When someone joins, say hello and try talking about one of the topics mentioned in the room name. Enjoy seeing how the conversation develops from there.
【Chat with your voice, without showing your face】
Picon rooms are places for voice conversations.
You can participate without showing your face on camera or tidying up your background. You can communicate by voice without worrying about your appearance, even when relaxing at home.
You can switch your microphone on and off during a call. Mute it when you go to get a drink or when you're bothered by surrounding noise. When you're ready to speak again, turn your microphone on and return to the conversation.
Please choose a place and time where you can speak aloud, and use it while being considerate of those around you. It's recommended to enjoy Picon in an environment where you can speak comfortably and hear the other person clearly, such as by using earphones.
[The Fun of Redrawing Your Profile]
Picon uses a profile that combines your name, emojis, and background color.
You can jump straight into conversation without the hassle of writing a long self-introduction or preparing a profile picture. Emojis and colorful appearances also add flair to your Picon chats.
Your profile is randomly selected from a set of options. You can redraw it from the settings screen, so you can try new combinations when you want a change of pace. There's also the fun of redrawing to see what name and emojis you'll get.
It's not a system where you freely enter your favorite name; it's selected from a list of options. Enjoy not only the content of your conversation, but also the playful aspect of your profile.
[Picon at these times]
* When you want to chat with someone while relaxing at home
* When you've finished work or studying and want to change your mood
* When you want to talk about something you've recently come to like
* When you want someone to listen to a small thing that happened today
* When you want to chat a little before going to bed
* When you prefer to enjoy a small conversation rather than a large group
On days when you know what you want to talk about, try creating your own post. On days when you're unsure what to talk about, look for a topic that interests you from the list. You can choose how to start a conversation according to your mood that day.
Whether it's a day for a deep discussion about your hobbies or a day for laughing at trivial things, even on days when nothing special happened, a word exchanged with someone might become a small source of enjoyment for the day.
[For first-time users]
You can start chatting on Picon in the following steps:
1. Prepare your profile according to the app's instructions
2. Find a room that interests you in the list of posts
3. Check the participation rules and grant permission to use the microphone if necessary
4. Enter a room and start the conversation with a greeting.
If you want to create your own room, use the "+" button. The person who creates the room becomes the host and welcomes participants.
Depending on the recruitment status, rooms may be full or already closed. In that case, refresh the list to find another recruitment, or you can create your own room on a topic you want to discuss. The rooms you can join and the number of participants will also vary depending on the time of day.
[Start with something familiar]
When talking to someone for the first time, you might wonder what to say. In such cases, try starting with a topic from the room name. For example, in a movie room, ask, "What have you seen recently?" or in a food room, ask, "What did you have for lunch today?" Even short questions can be a conversation starter.
If you find someone with similar interests, talk about them in more detail. If something unfamiliar comes up, you can ask, "What do you like about that?" Enjoy the shared topic, hear different perspectives, and savor the interaction.
Even if the conversation lulls, there's no need to immediately prepare the next topic. It's perfectly fine to take a short break and wait for someone to start speaking. Whether you're a great conversationalist or someone who carefully chooses their words, please respect each other's pace.
When leaving, if you have the time, a simple "thank you" or "see you next time" is appreciated. Because it's a short time, let's enjoy chatting with greetings, starting and ending with them.
【For a pleasant conversation】
At Picon, we value mutual respect among participants.
Avoid hurtful words and harassment, and don't force others to talk about things they don't want to discuss. Please also be careful with how you handle personally identifiable information such as your address or contact details.
If you notice inappropriate behavior, you can use the in-app reporting function. A blocking function is also available. You don't need to force yourself to continue a conversation that makes you uncomfortable. If necessary, leave the room and use the reporting or blocking function.
Both those creating rooms and those joining them should review the Terms of Service and in-app rules before using the app. Consideration from each individual helps create a more comfortable environment for others to participate.
