This app is your one-stop shop for information on Scotland’s iconic historic attractions. Packed with essential information and beautiful imagery for Historic Scotland’s 77 staffed properties - including admission price, opening times, facilities and travel - this guide will help you research your next holiday or simply plan a day trip with the kids.

Intuitive and easy to use, the Historic Scotland app allows you to search by region or interest, with best for categories such as ‘families’, ‘gardens’, ‘picnics’ and ‘military history’ to choose from. You can also view all sites attractions on an interactive map of Scotland.

Not sure where you want to go? The app includes event information, articles and itinerary features, with new content added regularly to provide a source of inspiration. A view of Historic Scotland on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram gives you the latest ‘social buzz’ all in one place.

Ratings and reviews

Map directions have been broken since Android 11 as Google Maps hasn't been added to the App Manifest. To reproduce, go to "Map", choose any location, then click the Google maps icon, you'll be greeted with a "Google Maps is not installed or is disabled" error. Would be 4 stars if not for this very annoying and easily resolved issue. 5-stars if I could export all locations to Google Maps directly.

It's not really easy to navigate this app, I found quite annoying it's not possible to book tickets from the app. And the link to the website points to the wrong location when trying to buy a ticket.

A simple but very well made app. Can guide you to local sites, gives you a generally good over view of the area, what to expect etc and also lets you track which ones you've been to. Informs you of events, opening times, costs and all other pertinent info. I honestly can't fault it.
