About this app

I don't know if anyone other than me needed this app. I'm hoping that maybe you need it, too. I didn't want to subject anyone to ads or selling their data so it does have a nominal cost to support the server and further development.

Road Nerd is your audio tour guide for every drive. As you travel, it notices the towns and counties you're passing through and speaks short, interesting stories and facts about them or road-side attractions right over your music or podcast, then gets out of the way.

No screens to watch. No buttons to press. Start a drive, and the road starts talking.

DISCOVER AS YOU DRIVE
- Hear narrated stories about the towns and counties you're actually driving through, timed so they arrive as you cross into a new place
- Facts are curated for what's genuinely interesting:local history, quirks, claims to fame.

TRAVELS: COLLECT THE MAP
- Every county and town you enter is logged automatically
- Watch visited counties fill in on the map, state by state
- Track progress per state ("42 of 72 counties"), your most-visited places, and stats for the current drive
- Unlock achievements as your coverage grows, and share map and stats cards with friends

THE LICENSE PLATE GAME
- Start a game and have your passengers fill it out on their phones
- The classic road trip game, built in: collect all 50 states plus DC
- Check plates off on a list or watch the US map fill in
- Save a finished collection as an achievement, wipe the board, and start again on your next trip


BUILT FOR THE ROAD
- Runs quietly in the background during a drive session

New in this version: a quick first-run walkthrough, "Read on Wikipedia" links on rated facts, a simpler Settings screen, a cleaner Travels map, and privacy hardening (no ad ID, drive history never leaves your device).
