ChristmasWindows is the perfect guide to the holiday season in NYC.

We walk you through the Christmas Window tradition, and spill the beans on the larger than life stories of the city’s iconic retail houses. Tattoos, elephants, Canadian imposters, Presidential cheapness, burning skirts, supercilious French designers, lackadaisical French tailors and ingenious French smugglers, women shackled and women freed by the dictates of high fashion – we cover it all.

PlaceChase Christmas includes eight Places between 34th and 59th Streets. Our curated exploration offers a full morning or afternoon of enchantment, with some delightful only-in-NYC stories to boot, or take the deep dive into a single Place on your lunch hour or coffee break. As always, we include a host of historical images to go along with each Place. Follow our route with step by step directions or or make up your own - you can explore the Places in any order, all at your own pace.
