About this app

PlantSat-Krishi Beema enables farmers in Nepal to digitally enroll in crop and livestock insurance policies. We protect farmers against agricultural and climate risks using a combination of pictures, weather, and satellite index insurance. Our insurance service covers multi-peril crop losses, such as flood, drought, pest infestation, disease, snow, hailstorm, heavy rainfall, earthquake, landslides, and heavy wind.

The steps required for enrolling in our insurance service include:

1. Download the PlantSat Insure app from PlayStore and simply log in using the farmer's phone number. After login, farmers need to fill out the KYC Form and upload the citizenship form to get enrolled.

2. For the insured plot, the farmer uploads an initial overview picture of the farm along with its 3 minutes video. Every 2 times/week throughout the insured period, the farmer also needs to upload new pictures for the same site with the exact same view frame, aided by our app. Also, 3 minutes video of the farm per week is also required. This will serve as evidence for picture-based index insurance.

3. During the case of a disaster, farmers need to take a picture and video of the affected area within 24 hours of its occurrence. The picture must be taken from 5 different viewpoints surrounding the affected areas. After that, farmers can easily claim their loss by indicating the type of disaster, and the percentage of farms damaged.

4. After receiving claims from farmers, our platform performs a two-step verification process.

Step 1: Our Platform uses the combination of Photo + Satellite+Weather data for preliminary validation of the received claim. It then generates an auto-generated report with a confidence score.

Step 2: The insurance officer will be able to access the auto-generated report using the PlanSat Web platform for final validation and claim settlement. After analyzing the picture and satellite data to verify losses, the insurance officer performs a final verification. Finally, the insured farmers who suffered crop damage will receive insurance payouts via the insurance companies.
