About this app

The Plate does one thing. It looks at the meal in front of you and suggests one thing you could add to it.

No calories. No grams. No weighing, no logging, no daily target to miss. Portions are described in objects you already own: half a cup, a piece the size of your palm, what fits in a cupped palm.

HOW IT WORKS

Photograph the plate, or tap what is on it. Rough is fine.

The Plate names what the meal looks light on — protein, fibre or healthy fats — in plain words, then offers three ways to close it:

• the fastest addition, for when you are already eating
• the cheapest, for when the week has been long
• a plant-based one, always

Tap "I'll add this" and the meal is saved. After you have eaten, one optional tap says how it went — still hungry, comfortably satisfied, or too full. That single answer is the only thing The Plate learns from, and it aims the next suggestion better.

SCANNING, HONESTLY

Point the camera at your plate and fill the guide circle. Before anything is suggested, The Plate shows you what it thinks it sees, so you can remove what is wrong and add what it missed. Food recognition uses AI, and AI misreads things — you get the last word, every time, and every AI result has a Report control on it.

Your photo is cropped and stripped of its location and device data on the phone before it is sent to be described, and it is not stored on our servers.

NO ACCOUNTS

There is nothing to sign into. No email, no password, no profile. Your meals, goals, preferences and history stay on your phone, and the app works with no network at all once the meal is on screen.

WHAT IS NOT IN HERE

No streaks. No badges. No daily goals. No red warnings, no "you went over", no adjectives about your food. Nothing on screen implies what you are eating is wrong. The only verb The Plate has is add.

The Plate PRO

Optional, and the free app is never held hostage to it:

• the full ingredient library, not just the common additions
• Egyptian, MENA and world foods — koshari, fuul, molokhia, sushi, tacos
• unlimited saved patches, instead of the three most recent
• your satisfaction history, so you can see which additions actually kept you full
• dietary and budget filters — vegetarian, dairy-free, gluten-free, low cost
• the visual preview: your patched plate, drawn onto your own photograph and labelled as an illustration

Pro is an auto-renewing subscription. Prices are shown in the app before you confirm, and you can cancel any time in Google Play.

NOT MEDICAL ADVICE

The Plate gives simple, general food suggestions from a fixed set of rules. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose or treat anything, and it does not know about your allergies, intolerances, medications or conditions. Always check ingredients yourself, and speak to a doctor or a registered dietitian about your own needs.

One small thing, added to what you already eat.
Photograph your meal. Get one small thing to add — no counting, no guilt.
