Circus Arcade is a retro pixel-art action game set inside a circus tent. You play Pip the clown through five circus acts, each with its own trick to learn and its own chiptune.
The five acts
In Lion and Fire you ride Rufus the lion through rings of fire and hop over fire pots. On the Tightrope you jump over monkeys and float across the wider gaps. Trampolines sends you bouncing between pedestals, past fire-breathers and knife throwers. On Horseback you clear hurdles, hit springboards to get over brick walls, and take one giant leap across a fire pit. The Trapeze is all about timing: let go of the bar at the right moment and catch the next one.
Ways to play
Arcade runs the five acts in order and then loops them, a little faster and tougher each time. Endless serves the acts in a random order and gets harder the longer you last. Daily gives every player the same course for the day. Practice lets you replay any act you have already reached.
Three levels
You choose Easy, Normal or Hard before every show. Easy gives you five lives, a slower pace and hazards set far apart, so younger players can finish an act. Hard gives you three lives and tight courses.
Controls
An on-screen pad lets you run, stand still or walk back, with a Jump button on the other side. There is also a one-thumb mode where Pip runs by himself and a tap makes him jump. Button size, haptics, screen shake and scanlines can all be changed in Options.
Look and sound
Everything is hand-drawn pixel art with an original chiptune soundtrack that the game plays note by note. Clearing hazards in a row builds a combo, each act pays a time bonus, and a scoreboard keeps your initials. Checkpoint flags in every act mean one slip does not send you back to the start.
Leap through fire hoops, walk the tightrope and fly the trapeze in pixel art.
