About this app

PointJar is a family points game: your child earns points for completed chores and good behaviour and trades them for rewards you agreed on at home. No nagging, no fridge charts — everything runs in the app and parents always have the final say.

The app is free. No ads, no tracking and no subscription; the only in-app purchase is a voluntary contribution to running costs. Tasks and rewards are inspired by research on child motivation. Try the demo straight from the welcome screen, with no account and no sign-up.

HOW IT WORKS
• Parents set up a catalogue of tasks and rewards, a starter list is already included
• Your child taps a finished task and you get a notification right away
• You approve with OK or decline with X, points are added automatically
• Kids spend their points on rewards from the shop, again with your approval
• The child's level only ever grows and never drops, so motivation stays high

FOR PARENTS
• Your own catalogue of tasks and rewards, named your way and worth what you decide
• Deductions for agreed slip-ups with a daily cap, the balance never falls below zero
• Undo mistakes within 24 hours and see the full history of every point in or out
• Notifications for everything that matters, plus quiet hours that deliver silently
• A second parent has the same rights as you, grandparents can only watch
• Members join with a one-time code or with an e-mail address you add
• Several children in one family, each with their own points, goal and avatar
• Every pending request in one place, approved with a single tap

FOR KIDS
• Their own screen with a wallet, the current goal and the reward shop
• A task reported by mistake or a reward request is easy to take back
• The reward picked as a goal fills with colour with every point saved
• Celebration animations for a reached goal and for every new level
• Big, clear buttons that even a preschooler can handle

ON PHONES AND TABLETS
• A family tablet unlocks with a child's PIN, so kids need no account of their own
• Every family member picks their language: English, German, Czech or Slovak
• A change on one device shows up on the others straight away

A SAFE PLACE FOR THE FAMILY
• Each family sees only its own data and nobody else can reach it
• There is no way into a family without a code or invitation from a parent
• Sign in with Google, with no extra passwords to remember
• Data is encrypted in transit
• You can permanently delete your account and all family data from inside the app

WHO POINTJAR IS FOR
For families with children who can read the name of a task, roughly from the age of four. It works for household chores, getting ready for school, morning and bedtime routines and agreements about behaviour. Parents use it in place of pocket money, as a star chart, or as a shared goal the family saves towards.

Send questions and ideas to support@pointjar.app. PointJar is made by a small team of parents and we read every message.

What’s new

On iPhone with iOS 26 the bottom bar and the switches (Child / Parent / Family, Catalogue, Rules, points sign) have a glass lens that glides to the selected item and magnifies what is under it. After you decide the last card in Approve, the card leaves and the All done view stays with a Decided today list, where a decision can be undone within 24 hours. Android: a smaller and faster app thanks to code optimisation. Bug fixes.
