Share files with a whole room at once.

Most sharing tools are one-to-one: both people have to tap, accept and wait, every single time. WaftDrop is built for the other case — one person sharing with many. A teacher handing a PDF to a class. A speaker sending slides to a room. One friend passing holiday photos to everyone who was there.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Pick your files — photos, videos, documents or apps.
2. WaftDrop gives you a 6-digit code and starts broadcasting.
3. Everyone nearby opens WaftDrop, sees your drop, enters the code and downloads.

Once you've tapped Start, you're done. No accepting each person one by one. No sending the same file ten times.

NO INTERNET NEEDED

WaftDrop works entirely over local connections. If you're on the same Wi-Fi, it uses that. If there's no shared network at all, it creates a direct connection between the devices instead. Either way your files go straight from your phone to theirs — they never travel over the internet or sit on anyone's server.

YOU STAY IN CONTROL

• 6-digit code — only the people you give it to can download
• Receiver limit — cap how many devices can join your drop
• Expiry — drops end automatically after 15 minutes, 1 hour or 4 hours
• Stop anytime, from the app or straight from the notification
• Nothing is uploaded or kept once the drop ends

PRIVACY

WaftDrop has no accounts, no sign-up, no ads and no analytics. There are no WaftDrop servers, so we never see your files, their names, or who you shared them with. No data is collected.

One thing we'd rather say plainly: transfers use a direct local connection and are not encrypted. Access is protected by your 6-digit code and short-lived access tokens rather than TLS. For anything sensitive, use the direct connection mode or a network you trust.

BEFORE YOU START

• Wi-Fi must be switched on, even when you're not connected to a network. WaftDrop creates its direct connection using the Wi-Fi chip, so it can't work with Wi-Fi off.
• Bluetooth is only needed when there's no shared Wi-Fi. That's how nearby devices find each other in direct mode.
• Everyone taking part needs WaftDrop installed.

What’s new

Give your phone a face. 256 avatars to pick from, and the people you send to now see it beside your name.

Four colour themes: Indigo, Teal, Amber and Rose, each with its own light and dark look.

Fixed: two-word names showed only the first word to nearby devices, and the longest names didn't show at all.

Important: "No shared Wi-Fi" mode now needs 1.3.0 on both phones. Drops over normal Wi-Fi are unaffected.
