Pool Recipe turns your water test results into an exact, step-by-step dosing plan for your pool. Enter what your test kit or strips read, and the app tells you which chemical to add, how much of it, and in what order — measured for your pool's volume, not read off a generic table.
WHAT IT WORKS OUT
• Exact doses in real units — cups, quarts, gallons and pounds (or milliliters, liters, grams and kilograms) for liquid chlorine, bleach, cal-hypo, dichlor, trichlor, soda ash, muriatic acid, baking soda, calcium chloride, stabilizer and pool salt.
• Range-aware dials — every reading goes in on a dial that shows its scale and marks the ideal range for your pool, so you can see how far off you are before you read a word.
• The right order — alkalinity before pH, chlorine last, with the waiting times and the never-mix-chemicals rules spelled out at each step.
• Water balance (LSI) — a corrosive-to-scaling gauge shows whether your water will etch or scale your surfaces, and which of pH, alkalinity or calcium to turn.
• Combined chlorine — enter free and total chlorine and the breakpoint shock target appears straight away.
• Chlorine and saltwater pools — salt systems get a recommended cell output percentage (Hayward TurboCell, Pentair IntelliChlor or other) and a warning when the cell is nearing the end of its life.
DIAGNOSE A PROBLEM
Green, mustard and black algae, cloudy water, the chlorine smell, scale, stains and foam each get a guided walkthrough. It follows the proven SLAM process where that applies, asks a question or two where the answer changes the fix, and hands you doses worked out for your pool along with the exit criteria — so you know when you are actually done.
STAY AHEAD OF IT
• History and trends — every saved reading charted against its ideal and acceptable bands, with out-of-range values flagged.
• Streaks and badges for testing regularly, and a quiet nudge when the week is slipping by.
• Dose log — mark what you added, and the next test tells you how close the dose landed. After a couple of matched doses the app tunes its recommendations to how your pool actually behaves.
• Weather-aware care — an optional local forecast turns heat, heavy rain and strong UV into specific advice, and tells you when the weather (not the calendar) says it is time to open or close the pool.
• Task lists — routine upkeep on a repeating schedule, plus seasonal opening and closing checklists you tick off.
• Chemical inventory and costs — track what is in the shed and see the cheapest way to raise chlorine with what you already own.
• Export your history as a CSV, or print a clean report to hand to a partner or a pool tech.
PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
• No account needed. There is nothing to sign up for.
• Your readings stay on your device. Cloud backup is optional and off until you switch it on, and Settings can delete everything — device, cloud and all — in one tap.
• Works offline. The whole calculator runs with no connection.
• No ads and no tracking.
• Read a test strip with the camera (beta) — the photo never leaves your device.
• English and Spanish, in US or metric units.
