About this app

POTUS% shows how much of the current presidential term has elapsed, as a percentage. That is the whole idea.

WHAT YOU GET
• Now: a ring showing the percentage of the term elapsed, the days left, the day of the term, and who holds the office. Drag the ring to read the figure at any date in the term.
• Calendar: the next presidential elections, midterms and inaugurations, with the term's milestones.
• History: every presidency, with its dates, its party, its length and its rank by length. Searchable, plus an "on this day" card.
• Three home-screen widgets that keep counting with no network: the term, the next election, and a perspective line that changes at midnight.
• Share your progress as a card. Optional notifications for milestones and election run-ups — about a dozen a year, each one a date.

WHERE EVERY NUMBER COMES FROM
Every source below is linked in full, and the same five links are in the app under Settings › About › Sources.

Election days are computed on the device from the statutory rule — the Tuesday after the first Monday in November, 3 U.S.C. §1, https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/USCODE-2023-title3/html/USCODE-2023-title3-chap1-sec1.htm — and inauguration from the Twentieth Amendment, https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/amendments-11-27 (noon on 20 January). The percentage is arithmetic on two dates. Nothing here is an estimate.

Who has held the office, and when, is the record kept by the U.S. National Archives: https://www.archives.gov/electoral-college/results

The term dates the History tab shows are the ones the U.S. House of Representatives keeps against each Congress: https://history.house.gov/Institution/Presidents-Coinciding/Presidents-Coinciding/

The president, the vice president and the term's milestones come from api.potuspercent.com, which is this app's own backend — a saved copy is shown when it cannot be reached, and the screen says so.

Every presidency, its dates and its party come from Wikidata, released into the public domain under CC0 — the record for the office itself, https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q11696 — the same file is bundled with the app, so the almanac works with no network at all. The bundled record was retrieved on 2026-08-26, and the History tab prints that date under the list.

The perspective lines are arithmetic over published constants, named here so you can check them yourself: the Earth travels 29.78 km per second, the ISS completes an orbit in 92.68 minutes, a synodic month is 29.530588 days, the Moon recedes 3.8 cm per year, and a heart at rest beats 70 times a minute.

WHAT THIS APP DOES NOT DO
It carries no opinion surveys, no scores of anyone's performance in office, no guesses at what comes next, no commentary and no news. Every figure on every screen is arithmetic you could repeat with a calendar.

Banner advertising by Google AdMob, non-personalised only. The app requests no tracking permission and shows no consent form, and the banner is not built at all once the ads have been removed. One payment. The banner is never built again.
