What might be accomplished for Christ’s kingdom if our nation were filled with hundreds of prayer groups—each made up of just a handful of men and women who have made a solemn commitment to surrender everything for Christ’s sake? People who place everything on the altar, resolved to endure anything rather than see Christ lose even a fragment of the glory due to His holy and magnificent name.

Where can such men and women be found? They are not discovered—they are formed and refined by the Holy Spirit in the furnace of prayer and the crucible of life. The Prayer Discipleship Academy exists to help make this a reality.

Our philosophy is simple and biblical: discipline and sacrificial commitment. The second is impossible without the first, and no mighty work of God has ever been accomplished without both. Search the Scriptures and church history, and you will find these qualities in abundance among those whom God has used powerfully. Why? Not because there is greatness in the person, but because such people become vessels most fit for the Master’s use.

Prayer does not begin the moment we kneel; it begins at the moment of our conversion. Everything that has happened since—every trial endured for Christ, every sacrifice made, every scripture memorised and meditated upon, every degree of Christlike character formed—shapes the effectiveness of our prayers today.

We must leave behind the notion that prayer is merely what we do in the closet. The act of prayer is the Christian life itself; the closet is simply the seal upon a life lived in continual communion with God.
