About this app

Vellum is an antique identifier and appraisal assistant. Photograph an item and the app tells you what it is, when and where it was made, what it is made of, and what similar pieces are selling for, with a value range you can use as a starting point.

IDENTIFY ANTIQUES FROM ONE PHOTO
Point the camera at furniture, ceramics, glass, silver, jewellery, coins, clocks, art, books, toys or textiles, or pick a photo from your library. Vellum analyses the photo and returns the item name, period, style, maker or origin where it can be determined, and materials. Optional extra photos of the back or base, any marks or writing, and condition give the identifier more to work with.

ANTIQUE APPRAISAL WITH A VALUE RANGE
Every identification comes with an estimated value range rather than a single number, so you can see the low and high end of what comparable items sell for. The range is an AI-assisted estimate built from photographic analysis and current market listings. It is a guide for research, selling and insurance conversations, not a certified appraisal.

COMPARABLE LISTINGS FROM LIVE MARKETPLACES
See recent and active listings of similar items from eBay and Etsy next to your result, with links back to the original listing, so the value range is grounded in what people are paying today rather than in a static price guide.

REFINE THE RESULT
Add what the photo cannot show: maker's marks, inscriptions, provenance or condition notes. Vellum reassesses the identification and value range with your details alongside the photo analysis.

BUILD YOUR COLLECTION
Save identified items with the photo, identification, value range and your own notes and asking price. Group them into collections, keep unfiled finds to hand, and see the total estimated value across everything you own.

EXPORT REPORTS
Export everything, one collection or a selection as a PDF report or a spreadsheet for insurance, estate planning, a dealer or a family record. Reports include the item photos, identifications and value ranges.

WHAT IS INCLUDED
Three scans are included with the app so you can try the antique identifier on your own items. Vellum Plus unlocks unlimited identifications, an unlimited collection and report export. Vellum Plus is an auto-renewing subscription billed weekly or yearly through Google Play; the yearly plan offers a 7-day free trial to eligible new subscribers. Prices are shown in the app before you confirm, and you can cancel at any time in your Google Play subscriptions.

PRIVACY
The photo you submit is sent to our servers for identification and to eBay for visual matches, and is processed for that scan only; we do not use your photos to train models. There is no account to create. Analytics can be switched off in Settings, and Settings also lets you delete the analytics data associated with your install.

Vellum is made for collectors, resellers, estate executors and anyone who has inherited an item and wants to know what it is and what it might be worth. Values are estimates from photographic analysis and market data and can differ from an in-person appraisal.
