About this app

Gistify records your meetings, writes out the transcript, and gives you a
summary with the key points, decisions and action items pulled out. Start a
recording in one tap and read the notes when it's done.

WHERE GISTIFY IS DIFFERENT

Most transcription apps send your audio to a large cloud speech service and
keep a copy indefinitely. Gistify does neither.

• Speech recognition runs on our own server, not a third-party speech API.
• Your recording is deleted from our server the moment it has been
transcribed — whether it succeeded or failed. There is no archive of
recordings.
• No advertising. No analytics. No tracking. There is no advertising,
analytics or attribution software in this app at all.
• The app asks for the microphone, for internet access, and for permission
to show a notification while it is recording. Nothing else — no contacts,
no location, no files, no camera.
• Delete your account and everything in it from inside the app, instantly.

One thing does leave our servers, and we would rather say so than bury it: the
text of your transcript is sent to OpenAI to write the summary. Not your audio,
not your email address. Their API terms exclude it from model training.

WHAT YOU GET

• A full transcript of the meeting.
• A summary: a short overview, the key points, decisions taken, and action
items with owners where they were named.
• Everything saved to your account and grouped by day, so past meetings are
easy to scroll back through.
• Rename or delete any meeting, or select several and delete them together.
• Recording keeps going when your screen locks or you switch apps, with a
notification showing the time elapsed and a button to stop.

SIGNING IN

There is no password. Enter your email address and we send you a six-digit
code. Sign in again with the same address and you're back in the same account,
so reinstalling the app doesn't lose your meetings.

LANGUAGES

English, French, German, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese and Polish.

Only eight, and that's deliberate. Speech recognition is only as good as the
material a model was trained on, and for most of the world's languages there
isn't much. Rather than advertise ninety-nine languages where most results
would be unusable, we support the ones we have tested. Set your language in
Settings — auto-detect is worth avoiding, because a misidentified language
produces confident nonsense rather than an obvious error.

You can also have summaries written in a different language from the one
spoken.

BEFORE YOU RECORD

Please make sure you're allowed to. Recording law varies: several US states
require everyone in the conversation to consent, and your employer may have
rules of its own. Telling people you're recording is usually all it takes.

FREE WHILE IN EARLY ACCESS

Gistify is free with a generous monthly allowance and no in-app purchases.
We plan to introduce paid plans later, and we'll give at least 30 days' notice
before anything that affects you changes.

What’s new

Plan your meetings, and get a nudge when they're ready.

• New: the calendar. Add a meeting, make it repeat daily, on weekdays or weekly, and get a reminder a minute before it starts.
• New: a notification when your transcript and summary are done. Tap it to open the meeting.
• New: a quiet "still recording" note every 30 minutes.
• Recordings now stop and save after 3 hours.
• All notifications can be turned off in Settings.
