ProofIt Fact Checker helps users check posts, screenshots, images, captions, search results, messages, and online claims before trusting or sharing them.
ProofIt can review visible text from apps such as social media apps, search pages, websites, and messaging screens, then provide a fact-check result with a clear explanation.
AccessibilityService API Disclosure:
ProofIt uses the Android AccessibilityService API only for the optional Floating P reader feature. When you tap the Floating P button, ProofIt can read visible text from the screen you choose, such as a post, caption, search result, message, or other visible claim, so the app can help fact-check that content.
ProofIt does not use AccessibilityService to read passwords, keystrokes, banking information, payment fields, hidden background content, or private fields you do not choose to scan. ProofIt does not control your device, perform actions for you, send messages, make purchases, or change settings.
The visible text you choose to scan may be sent securely to ProofIt’s verification system to generate a fact-check result. ProofIt only uses this access after you start a scan with the Floating P feature and after you review and accept the in-app Accessibility disclosure.
Before enabling Accessibility permission, ProofIt shows a clear prominent disclosure with two choices: “I Agree” and “Not now.” Users must take affirmative action to agree before being sent to Android Accessibility settings. Leaving the disclosure, pressing back, or closing the app does not count as consent.
