Find your direction, follow a bearing, or check whether a surface is level. Get the information you need at a glance, without ads, sign-in screens or unnecessary clutter.

## A compass that's ready when you are

See your heading in degrees and compass directions, from North to Northwest and everything in between. The compass responds smoothly as you turn, keeping the reading easy to follow.

- **True North & Magnetic North:** Switch between geographic true north and magnetic north.
- **Steady readings:** A filtered compass heading reduces distracting needle jitter.
- **Bearing Lock:** Save a direction and follow the on-screen arrows to get back on course.
- **Clear accuracy status:** Know when readings are good, usable or unreliable.

## Explore with the AR compass

Open the camera compass to see North, East, South and West overlaid on the world around you. Direction labels are positioned using your phone's camera field of view and stabilized to reduce distracting movement.

Use the torch in low-light conditions, or turn off automatic camera switching in Settings. The camera opens only when you choose to use it.

## A built-in bubble and plumb level

Need to check a shelf, table, picture frame or door frame? Swipe to the level screen.

- **Bubble level:** Check how level a flat surface is using pitch and roll readings.
- **Plumb level:** Hold your phone upright against a wall or frame to check vertical alignment.
- **Vibration feedback:** Feel a brief vibration when the phone reaches level.
- **Landscape support:** Use the level in either screen orientation.

## Know when to calibrate

Magnetic interference can affect your phone's compass. When readings cannot be trusted, the app tells you instead of presenting a potentially misleading direction.

## True North, with location handled on your phone

True North uses a location fix to calculate magnetic declination. Your correction angle is cached for subsequent use, and your location is not stored by the app. The compass works without location access, initially showing magnetic north until a location fix becomes available.
