About this app

Metrominuto is a deployment of citizen tools that provide users with information on distances and times between the most important points of the population in which they live. They do so through a synoptic map, imitating the design of the subway plans, installed in the signage of the city (physical part) and also accessible through a mobile application.

Metrominuto is based on the principles of the 2030 Agenda of the European Union, which promotes and encourages mobility in cities by walking, avoiding public transport, reducing the risks of overcrowding and improving the health of the population.

Metrominuto is part of an ambitious social and environmental policy, helping to protect human health and the fight against climate change, promoting the habitability and sustainability of urban spaces. Its objective is the most intelligent use of public resources at the service of our health and well-being in a democratic way, guaranteeing equality and inclusiveness.
The European Commission has set itself a sustainability plan for 2030, urging all EU actors to prioritize the transition to that sustainability with cross-cutting plans that are framed within environmental regulations and that promote a circular concept of economy, reducing waste and the need for new resources. Walking is one of the keys to a sustainable future. That simple gesture decreases our dependence on fossil fuels. Besides that we would help energy autonomy and contribute to a fairer energy market.
The urban mobility sector needs to reduce its air pollution, noise, congestion and accidents. This sector is responsible for a quarter of greenhouse gas emissions and the footprint of its emissions is increasing. Metrominuto is a step towards that clean and affordable alternative that we all need.

(Quote "Reflection for a Europe between now and 2030"):
"Cities are at the forefront of the transition towards sustainable mobility. Through sustainable urban planning, the integration of spatial planning and the satisfaction of mobility and infrastructure demands, cities have an important role to play.
Urban areas should also be assisted in digitization, automation and other innovative solutions, and active and shared transport should be encouraged, from walking and cycling to car-sharing and car-sharing services. "

"Solidarity and prosperity are virtues in themselves and constitutes the purpose of our free and democratic society"
The evolution of cities has to be towards inclusiveness, promoting social rights and well-being for all. Respect for the rule of law, democracy and fundamental rights are our hallmarks. Promoting citizen participation has to be maintained and strengthened to guarantee effective governance. Increasing the confidence of citizens in their institutions.
In Metrominuto, in its module dedicated to citizen participation, several interrelated objectives are sought: to shorten the distance between citizens and public officials in the city, and accelerate the effectiveness of the public response to incidents.
Metrominuto is a platform in which citizens can receive information from their city council through news, keeping themselves informed in a clear, simple and direct way. It allows a reinforcement of the projection of the work of the different departments and reflects the values shared by society as a whole. Thus, citizens can feel included in their community, participate in it, add value and are valued for it.
