About this app
TapToRead turns physical books, worksheets and handwritten pages into interactive reading activities for children.
Simply scan a page and TapToRead detects the words on the page. Children can tap individual words to hear them spoken aloud, listen to sentences, practise difficult words, translate text into other languages and play simple find-the-word activities.
Instead of replacing physical books with a digital library, TapToRead helps children learn using the books, worksheets and learning materials they already have.
Key features include:
• Scan printed text
Turn pages from books, worksheets and learning materials into interactive reading activities.
• Read handwriting
Scan handwritten notes, homework and writing practice.
• Tap any word to hear it
Tap a detected word and hear its pronunciation.
• Read sentences and pages
Listen to complete sentences or the entire scanned page.
• Find-the-word practice
Tap Find and listen for a target word. The child then finds and taps the correct word on the page.
• Translate & Learn
Translate recognised text into supported languages and listen to the translated text.
• Chinese with Pinyin
Chinese translations can also display Pinyin to support pronunciation and language learning.
• Spelling support
Check recognised English text for possible spelling mistakes.
• Personalised word practice
Words that a child frequently taps for help or misses during Find activities can appear in the Practice section for additional learning.
• My Books
Save scanned pages on the device so children can return to them later.
TapToRead creates a simple learning cycle:
Scan → Tap & Listen → Translate → Find → Practice → Return to the Book
