About this app

RADIO 4DAT turns the low-cost radios you already own into a planned, legal backup communications network.

Tell it your group size, how far the farthest link is, the terrain and your license, and it recommends the radio, antenna, channel plan and the lowest transmit power that still closes each link. It knows the rules: without a license it plans only license-free services (FRS, LoRa mesh, Wi-Fi), and it shows exactly why an option is blocked.

WHAT'S INSIDE
• Plan: a build for your team in seconds, with relays, vehicles and the heads-ups your phone needs
• Kit: track your radios, batteries, tests and reorders; sign in to keep the same kit on every device
• Gear guide: commercial radios, LoRa boards, receivers and accessories, each tagged with whether you may transmit with it
• Survey: a simulated spectrum view showing how a $40 receiver flags interference and jamming and takes bearings
• Link: the physics of range, antenna height and power, with an estimate of how far others could hear you
• Modem: how text and positions travel over a voice radio to ATAK or iTAK, with legal paths only, and a Mask mode for speech through a mask
• Network: situation-aware routing across cell, Wi-Fi, LoRa mesh, radio and satellite, with automatic fallback when a link fails
• PACE card: a one-page comms plan to hand to your team
• Rules: the radio regulations that trip people up, in plain language
• Guide: hands-on tutorials, from a LoRa mesh text net to an off-grid push-to-talk network

Civilian and military modes use the right vocabulary for each. Everything works without an account; sign in with Apple or Google only if you want your kit on every device. Team sharing is coming in RADIO 4DAT Team.

This release is a planner with simulated radios: it does not transmit. Radio integration follows in a later release. It is a planning aid, not legal advice; transmit only where you are licensed or authorized.
