Chev.Dr.D.John Ponnudurai, a well renowned educationist, hailed from Mavadi in the vicinity of kalakad and it was his vision to commence a college in his birth place. He had commenced various education institutions in Chennai, ably assisted by his wife Mrs. Saroja Ponnudurai.After the demise of Chev.Dr.D.John Ponnudurai his son Dr.J.Praveen Christopher took over the reins from his father and continued in the field of education.

Dr. J. Praveen Christopher an Educationist, being keen in making his father's vision come true. He augmented the Christopher Arts & Science College (Women) In Soorangudi, Nanguneri. He is presently the correspondent of the St. John’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School Porur, and the Nursery & Primary School in Karambakkam, Porur. & St. John’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Kalakad.
