Every dollar you "spend" here is a dollar you haven't actually spent. The app adds them up and shows you the total the moment you open it. Of all the numbers you'll see, that's the only real one.

Now every rank has five steps (Novice 1 to 5, Apprentice 1 to 5...) and takes considerably longer to reach. The level bar, on the other hand, still fills just as fast.
