About this app

Know exactly how many days you've spent in each country — and how close you are to every limit that matters.

PLEASE READ FIRST: Cardea is an independent app. It is NOT affiliated with, endorsed by or authorised by any government, government agency, tax authority or the European Union, and it does not provide or facilitate any government service. Every limit it tracks is listed below with its official source.

If you split your life across borders — as a digital nomad, an expat, a frequent business traveller, or a seasonal resident — you need one honest number: how many days, where, and against which rule. Cardea gives you that number, and lets you check every single day behind it.

WHY CARDEA

Most day-counting apps show you a total and ask you to trust it. Cardea doesn't. Every count in the app is a button that opens the exact list of days behind it — country by country, day by day, each one editable. If a number looks wrong, you can find out why in two taps.

WHAT IT TRACKS

• Schengen 90/180 — the rolling 180-day window, calculated correctly, not approximated.
• 183-day tax residency thresholds, per country.
• Custom rules you define yourself, for any limit that matters to you.
• A full year at a glance, in a single ribbon of colour-coded days.

OFFICIAL SOURCES OF THE LIMITS

Cardea does not write these limits. Each one comes from the official source below, which the app also links on the rule's own screen:

• Schengen 90/180 — European Commission: https://home-affairs.ec.europa.eu/policies/schengen-borders-and-visa_en
• Germany — § 9 Abgabenordnung: https://www.gesetze-im-internet.de/ao_1977/__9.html
• Spain — Ley 35/2006, art. 9 (BOE): https://www.boe.es/buscar/act.php?id=BOE-A-2006-20764
• Spain, non-residents — RDL 5/2004 (BOE): https://www.boe.es/buscar/act.php?id=BOE-A-2004-4527
• United Kingdom — GOV.UK: https://www.gov.uk/tax-foreign-income/residence
• Portugal — CIRS, art. 16: https://info.portaldasfinancas.gov.pt/pt/informacao_fiscal/codigos_tributarios/cirs_rep/Pages/irs16.aspx
• Italy — art. 2 TUIR (Normattiva): https://www.normattiva.it/uri-res/N2Ls?urn:nir:stato:dpr:1986-12-22;917~art2
• France — BOFiP, impots.gouv.fr: https://bofip.impots.gouv.fr/bofip/1911-PGP.html
• Netherlands — Wet IB 2001: https://wetten.overheid.nl/BWBR0011353/2020-01-01
• Switzerland — Fedlex: https://www.fedlex.admin.ch/eli/cc/1991/1184_1184_1184/fr

HOW IT WORKS

• Log stays manually, or let Cardea's optional background tracking fill your calendar in automatically, with low-confidence days flagged for your review.
• Country detection runs entirely on your device — no maps, no geocoding services, no location data ever leaving your phone.
• A planner simulates upcoming trips against every rule you track, and tells you the last safe day to leave.
• Export your full history to CSV, JSON, or PDF — for free, any time.

PRIVACY, BY DESIGN

• No account, no login, no cloud sync.
• All data stays in a local database on your device.
• Works fully offline, indefinitely — flight mode included.
• Delete everything, permanently, in one action.
• No location analytics, no crash reports containing GPS data, no tracking SDKs.

WHAT CARDEA IS NOT

Cardea counts physical presence. It is not a government service and does not represent any government entity. It does not determine your tax residency or your immigration status, and it is not tax, legal, or immigration advice. Rules and thresholds change. Always confirm anything that matters with the competent authority or a qualified professional. Cardea's job is to get the day-count right and show you exactly how it got there — nothing more, nothing less.
Count days per country offline. Schengen 90/180, 183-day rule. No account.
