About this app

This is a Local Anaesthetic Systemic Toxicity (LAST) Calculator. This app calculates Ideal Bodyweight (IBW) and uses this to calculate the maximum safe dosages of local anaesthetics. It uses IBW or actual bodyweight (whichever is lower) and fractions of the maximum permissible toxic dose to calculate safe combinations of local anaesthetics.
Multiple concentrations of multiple local anaesthetics can be used and then you can calculate the remaining volume left for the surgeon including the ability to use dilute local anaesthetic mixes for large volume wound infiltration safely.

This app was developed to assist anyone using local anaesthetics to quickly calculate how much they can use safely as efficiently as possible, reducing the mental burden when in a time pressured environment.

The app is a tool to assist the clinician but it does not outweigh the need for the clinician to make their own judgement and have the appropriate skill and be trained in using local anaesthetics.
