The Catholic Charismatic Renewal, or Catholic Pentecostalism as it was initially known, originated with a spiritual retreat held on February 17-19, 1967, at Duquesne University (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA).
In 1967, a group of young students at the University of Duquesne, in the United States, applied themselves to rereading and meditating on the Acts of the Apostles, and to praying for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, and there they had such a strong experience of the Grace divine, that this event became known as the starting point of the Charismatic Renewal in the Catholic Church.
