When it works it's great, allows me to control the box remotely (i have a video sender beaming picture upstairs). Good access to most features. Also great for setting recordings when not at home. However, most of the time it fails to connect to the box. Both on the same WiFi network. I know the box is connected as it is able to stream. Similarly the phone is definitely connected too. But the app is unable to locate the box most of the time. Sometimes resetting everything works for a bit but then next time I open the app the connection is lost again. Very frustrating and a very poor experience.

Like many, I am disappointed about the removal of Freesat IDs by Freesat. This means that the remote recording function no longer works, but the app has not been updated to reflect this. Freesat has long been dogged by phantom recording bugs, so I think that is the reason this feature has been dropped. That said, a lack of announcements or updates that fully reflect the change is very poor. The alternative seems to be Freely, but you need to buy a new TV as there are no available boxes.

They've removed the remote record functionality - which would've been so handy if it had worked reliably. But disappointingly, it no longer updates the recordings you have on your box either and that was very useful. Given the 'using your phone as a remote' feature never worked, what is left of use on the app? A TV guide? That's it? Shame. App uninstalled.
