Hello. We’re Freesat, the UK's subscription free satellite TV service. The Freesat App is a free app for all TV viewers which helps you find whats on across 200 channels. If you’re a Freesat customer, you can even use the app to set recordings when you’re out and about.

Ratings and reviews

Freesat do not update their app more than once a year. Version 2.2.393 the remote control function works perfectly, version 2.3.5 the remote control function doesn't. I understand freesat (and all satellite services inc Sky) will likely be mothballed in around 5 years but surely you want people to have a good experience before then? I use aptoide to get the old version. Ever heard of agile development and release? Its quite common over the last 30 years, find a problem, fix it and release ....

Unfortunately the only useful feature 'Remote Record' has been discontinued. But it's been left in the app, so you can still add a recording but it will never get to the box. At least you could remove features when they discontinued. I will be deleting the app, as it serves no purpose now. It's a TV guide, that's all. Adding recordings via the remote is a horrible user experience, especially as the on screen keyboard is not qwerty. Hundred button presses to find anything. Improvement needed.

They've removed the remote record functionality - which would've been so handy if it had worked reliably. But disappointingly, it no longer updates the recordings you have on your box either and that was very useful. Given the 'using your phone as a remote' feature never worked, what is left of use on the app? A TV guide? That's it? Shame. App uninstalled.
