About this app

Russian sticks when you meet it inside a story, not in a list of words to memorise. ReadMir gives you levelled Russian stories you can mostly understand from day one, then quietly teaches you the rest.

Tap any word to see what it means. Listen to the scene read aloud with simulative native-level narration. Answer a few quick questions as you go, save the words you want to keep, and the app turns them into flashcards that come back just before you would forget them.

READ RUSSIAN AT YOUR LEVEL
• Original graded stories from complete beginner (A1) to proficient (C2) — quick-reads through to novella-length ones you settle into
• Filter the library by level, topic and length and more to find your next read
• Tap-to-reveal translations on every word, so you never need to leave the page
• Native-level narration for every scene, plus audio for individual words
• Challenges built into the reading: multiple choice, fill in the blank, match the pairs, word order and listening
• Transliteration and grammatical case overlays for story words

A READER YOU CAN TUNE TO YOUR EYES
Reading from screens can be draining, so we added light and dark modes to start with, then granular control on top: contrast, colour saturation, a colour wash you can shift across the hue range, and paper-style grain textures at the strength you like. Set it once for a warm sepia page or a low-glare night mode.

BUILD MEMORIES WITH SPACED REPETITION
• Flashcards scheduled by a spaced-repetition system, so reviews land at the right moment
• Cloze decks — supply the missing word in a contextual sentence
• Word Forms practice for cases, endings and verb conjugation
• Quick Quiz for a fast round when you have two minutes
• Every word you save while reading flows straight into your practice deck

GRAMMAR, IN AS MUCH DETAIL AS YOU WANT
Tap a word while reading and you get the quick answer: definition, stress marks, declension and conjugation tables. When the quick answer is not enough, the full grammar guide covers every concept in Russian grammar in one place.

CHEATSHEETS
One-page references you can save as PDFs, covering both grammar (cases, verbs, aspect, pronouns, numbers) and everyday topics (travel, work, food, time, weather, shopping, etc.).

DRACULA: PROGRESSIVE IMMERSION
Start Bram Stoker's Dracula in English and watch it turn into Russian, one word at a time. Each chapter replaces more of the text than the last, so you find yourself reading real literature long before you would have thought you were ready.

ALSO INSIDE
• A guided Cyrillic course
• XP, levels, Russian rank titles, achievements and statistics
• A free account carries your progress between phone and web

WHO IT'S FOR
Beginners who want something more fun than drills. Intermediate learners stuck on the plateau between textbook Russian and the real thing. Anyone returning to a language they studied once and would like to enjoy this time. Anyone who has always wanted to read Russian, not merely revise it.

Something not working, or a story you would like to see? There is a report form inside the app, and we read every message.

ONE PAYMENT, UNLOCKED EVERYWHERE
ReadMir has no subscription and is free to start. In fact, practically all functionality is free. Full access to the entire story library is a single, affordable one-off unlock — buy it once, keep it. The unlock is tied to your account, not your device, so a purchase made on the Android app also unlocks the web version at ReadMir.com, and vice versa. This will also apply to the iOS version which is in pre-release. Every story added to the library later is included, at no extra cost.

Before you spend anything: We offer several complete stories at every CEFR level from A1 to C2, Chapter I of Dracula, the full grammar guide, the cheat sheets and unlimited vocabulary practice with all of its modes for free. No trial, no countdown.
